True, but exaggerated

The specific deportation counts are real per Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha answers. They do not prove overall inaction — border pushbacks, improved fencing, and stricter verification replaced many formal deportations after 2014.

Why we say that

Official deportation numbers dropped sharply after 2013, but the reel ignores border pushbacks and verification changes.

The listed figures for 2005-2019 match parliamentary answers almost exactly. Later years (2020+) are approximate but directionally right. The through-line fails because formal inland deportations fell while border management, fencing, and immediate push-ins at the border increased substantially. The reel presents only one narrow statistic as proof of inaction.

Based on only a few sources, so read this as a first look, not the last word.

What it leaves out

The sharp drop in formal deportations after 2013 happened alongside major improvements in border fencing, real-time surveillance, and immediate pushbacks/handovers at the India-Bangladesh border, which are reported separately and often total over a thousand per year in some periods.

What else it leaves out (2)
  • Many later-year figures reflect only verified overstayers processed through FRROs, not all border interceptions or push-ins that do not require full deportation proceedings.
  • The reel equates one narrow official statistic with total government effort against infiltration while omitting these policy and operational changes.
How it's framed (4)
Selective data presentation - Shows high UPA numbers (thousands) next to Manmohan Singh's image and low Modi-era numbers (often under 500, labeled "only" or "sirf") next to his image to imply dramatic failure after 2014.
Angry wording - Repeatedly calls them "Bangladeshi ghuspethiye" (infiltrators) and says the "speed slowed down" under Modi to suggest deliberate inaction.
Unfair comparison - Presents a year-by-year scorecard asking "which government deported how many when?" to argue UPA was tougher, without mentioning border pushback data or changed procedures.
Source transparency claim - Says figures till 2019 are from Rajya Sabha and later from "various sources," but shows no documents or links and leaves out the separate border management statistics.
