Facts true, point false

Haj subsidy numbers hold. The total religious spending figure and the comparison do not.

Checked against: The CSR Journal, The Times of India

Why we say that›

Haj subsidy records match while overall religion spending total does not.

Haj subsidy and 1-rupee donation facts are accurate. The conclusion that government spent 6,395 crore on religion overall fails.

What it leaves out

The 6,395 crore Haj total covers only 2004-2014 UPA period with no matching BJP-era total shown.

Predictions and opinions in it (1)›
  • Opinion: Gov Spending on Religion
How it's framed (4)›
Unfair comparison - First slide shows a single large government spending figure on religion; second slide splits the same 6,395 Cr figure into a Congress Haj subsidy contrasted against a 1-rupee BJP donation to Ram Mandir, implying parity between vastly different time periods and spending categories.
Selective omission - The 6,395 Cr Haj total is explicitly labeled 2004–2014 (Congress era) on the references slide, yet the second slide attributes it to 'Congress Spent' while juxtaposing it with a current 'BJP Gov' 1-rupee figure without any matching BJP-era data or total religious spending under BJP.
Loaded comparison - The reel uses a 1-rupee figure for BJP Ram Mandir donation (visually highlighted in yellow) against a 6,395 Cr figure for Congress Haj subsidy (highlighted in green), creating a stark visual imbalance without context on total government spending on religion across both governments.
Partisan framing - Congress is linked to Muslim-focused spending (Haj subsidy) while BJP is linked to a nominal Hindu temple donation, inviting viewers to interpret the disparity along religious and party lines.
